| Lawton Grabs Endorsements |

This week our campaign picked up the first union endorsement of the 2010 race and received the support of Sen. Jim Sullivan. Here's what they had to say: "What our union cares about most is jobs, and Barbara Lawton has brought a lot of work to the State of Wisconsin for our union members. Because of her efforts to bring the film industry to Wisconsin, we saw over 100 jobs created last year for IATSE Local 470 members. That's a big deal to us because Wisconsin desperately needs leadership focused on bringing jobs to our state." - IATSE Local 470 Business Representative Stephen Dedow "I'll never forget the time when we were working to save the Wisconsin G.I. bill. The vote was 0-16 against us in committee, and Barbara Lawton pulled together a bi-partisan group to tour the state. By the time we were done, the vote had flipped to 16-0 in favor to keep Wisconsin's promise to our veterans. This example is testament to her commitment and dedication, and that's why I know she will be an outstanding governor." - Sen. Jim Sullivan In other news: AP: "Lawton grabs endorsements while others ponder run" " While Democrats ponder whether to enter Wisconsin's governor's race, Lt. Gov. Barbara Lawton is collecting endorsements." Dubuque Telegraph: DNR legislation targets political influence http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=256857 "[Barbara Lawton] added that in today's era of global climate change, Wisconsin needs an independent DNR to provide expertise on ways the state can improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and adapt to change." Investing $1 billion in a new coal-fired power plant would create 890 jobs, she said, but the same investment in solar energy would create 1,800 jobs, in wind energy 3,300 jobs and in energy efficiency retrofits 6,000 jobs." |
