The Green Bay Progressive reported yesterday that Assembly Majority Leader Thomas Nelson, from Kaukauna, has taken out papers to run for Lieutenant Governor in the 2010 fall election. This confirms rumors previously reported in the Green Bay Progressive that he would enter the race. Nelson made his announcement at the Riverside Ballroom in Green Bay during the Democratic Party of Brown County’s Annual “Spring Fling” Fundraiser.
He said that he feels it is extremely important that Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett wins the Governor’s race this fall and that his candidacy would help broaden support for the Democratic ticket this November. Nelson also said Democrats need to talk about the “Democratic Difference”. Democrats are actually getting things done in Madison, rather than just talk like their Republican opponents. Nelson will compete with Democrats Sen. Spencer Coggs of Milwaukee and Waunakee businessman Henry Sanders who are also in the race for Lieutenant Governor. |
