Monday, October 19, 2009 (Madison) - Last month, I held a Small Business Administration (SBA) forum in Appleton that helped dozens of entrepreneurs and small business owners get access to much-needed SBA loans and programs. Talking with business leaders at the event, it was clear that there is still a long road ahead of us before the economy fully recovers.
The state Assembly has taken a number of steps to improve our state’s economy. Specifically, we’ve: - Passed legislation that helped create or save 22,000 Wisconsin jobs to date and is expected to create or save a total of 70,000 jobs;
- Created new targeted tax incentives for businesses to create and retain jobs. These incentives have helped companies like Mercury Marine stay in Wisconsin and encouraged more than 20 biotech firms to move here; and
- Streamlined regulation to promote economic growth and job creation.
While there is still a long road ahead of us, I am confident that the steps the state Assembly has taken – and will continue to take – will help create jobs and make Wisconsin a great place to live and do business.
Sincerely,
Thomas Nelson Assembly Majority Leader State Representative 5th Assembly District |
