(Green Bay) The Organizing for America (OFA) Health Care Public Meeting on Sunday, July 19th at the Harmony Cafe drew an estimated 120 people to hear various local leaders in the Health Care field share their views and stories from the community.
Dr. Monk Elmer from Kimberly lead most of the session in a discussion of President Obama's Health Care Principles and Public Opinion; that we must reduce costs, protect choice, and assure affordable quality health care for all Americans.
Dan Grandone, OFA State Director, talked about the OFA's efforts and where we stand and Jorna Taylor of Citizen Action of WI lead a discussion of public opinion. Three real life Health Care stories from the community were provided by Dr. Phil Hansotia, Mary Jo Gordon, and the Rev. Marian Boyle. Perhaps the highlight of the event was a presentation by Congressman Dr. Steve Kagen of the progress of the current bills in Congress and the principles that a successful new law must include. He also answered questions from the people attending. The event was co-sponsored by OFA and the Brown County Democrats. Our Deb Stover provided most of the local setup for the event and organizing. |
